One is reminded of the patient who made suicidal attempts during the period when she shouted like a huckster, giving no evidence whatever by her expression or the tone of her voice of feeling anxiety, sorrow or any other normal emotion. All these queer and larval affective reactions remind one strongly of dementia præcox.
Moreover, by choosing for analysis a case which was neither dementia praecox nor paranoia but a combination of the two, he reaches conclusions which are valuable additions to our knowledge of psychotic processes but merely confuse the issue as to the specific mechanisms of paranoia and dementia praecox.
Many indications suggest that a near future will consider this group much larger than we are really justified in doing today, probably soon connecting a number of other mental diseases like dementia præcox with toxic effects of bodily origin. Experience shows that in this group not a few chances exist for successful psychotherapeutic influence.

Ziehen says that he also has frequently seen angiospastic pulse-curves in exhaustion stupor or acute dementia, but that other pulse pictures may be seen as well.
