Of course, a chance companion, picked up on the road, is dropped when the journey's end is reached.

Two of these divisions are frequently referred to in the New Testament, as The Law and The Prophets; and the threefold division is doubtfully hinted at in Luke xxiv. 44, where our Lord speaks of the predictions concerning himself which are found in the Law and the Prophets and in the Psalms.

XXIV. The idea that the Gorge of Jehoshaphat will be the scene of the last judgment is based upon Joel iv. 2. Cf. The adjoining tomb is traditionally known as that of Zechariah, 2 Chron. xxiv. 20, King Uzziah, otherwise Azariah, was buried on Mount Zion, close to the other kings of Judah, 2 Kings xv. 7. Cf. P.E. F., Jerusalem, as to identification of sites.

Both religions had been recognized by the Roman State, and the Christians, persecuted and despised as they were, found it hard to make any headway against them the more so perhaps because the Christian doctrines appeared in many respects to be merely faint replicas and copies of the older creeds. The Bibliotheca Ind. edition reads Nakulì. The same story is found in Linga P. chap. XXIV. Lakulî is said to have had four pupils who founded four branches.
