When Findley was younger he had been so small that some one had called him "Teeny-bits" and the name had stuck. At the public school in Greensboro, in the village of Hamilton, in his home, every one called him Teeny-bits, and though the name did not apply to him now as appropriately as it had applied when he was four or five years younger, it still fitted him so well that no one questioned it.

The cause of this excitement was explained by a notice tacked on the store door. "The Board, Lodging, and Clothing of David Findley, Pauper, will be let to the lowest bidder for a period of one year, on Wednesday, May 30th inst., at Thomas Marshall's store, Chutes Corner, at 10 o'clock A. M. "Signed "J. B. FLETCHER T. S. TITUS O. R. MITCHELL Overseers of Poor."

"I was naturally anxious to know what my orders were," Mr. Westcote continued, "and shortly after my arrival here, I broke the seal of Number 1. Then I learned that I was to search for an old man who was living in this country under the name of David Findley. No effort or expense was to be spared. Money would be provided without stint through one of the city banks.

With a sinking sensation in the pit of his stomach, Teeny-bits stepped out of the bushes and said: "It's Findley Holbrook " and then, as if for good measure, he added his nickname "Teeny-bits." "What's up?" asked Mr. Stevens.

Neil MacLaughlin, a neighbor of mine, who has been talking with Mr. Findley, says that under this constitution all weavers are to be put to death. What have these innocent manufacturers done that they should be proscribed? Let other states think what they will of it, there is one reason why every Pennsylvanian should execrate this imposition upon mankind.

Daniel Boone was born either in Virginia or Pennsylvania, and at an early age settled in North Carolina, upon the banks of the Yadkin. In 1767, James Findley, the first white man who ever visited Kentucky, returned to the settlements of North Carolina, and gave such a glowing account of that wilderness, that Boone determined to venture into it, on a hunting expedition.

"Did you say his name is David?" the stranger asked. "Yes. David Findley, so I believe. But he is only known as 'Crazy David' in this parish." As Jasper uttered these words, the man lying on the cot rose suddenly to a sitting position, and looked keenly into the face of the young man before him as if he would read his innermost thoughts.

It seemed a matter of moments when we should have to spike our guns and General Findley saw the urgency for action. "'Boys, his voice echoed down the line, 'we are going to get every gun into position, Then deliberately the general approached a regimental chaplain kneeling beside a gunner. 'Here are some of my personal belongings, chaplain. See that they don't go astray,

It was undoubtedly very difficult to keep one's temper under such treatment. The Chairman looked it. "A meeting would be arranged," he declared, with a long-suffering expression. He even smiled a little. "In the meantime " "What can your committee do?" demanded one of the strike leaders, passionately it was Findley. "If you find one party wrong, can your state force it to do right?
