"And that brazen girl wouldn't have dared come here to the same college and make it hot for you !" "Allison! How did you know?" Jane sat up and looked into his eyes, startled. "I knew from the first mention that it must have been Eugenia Frazer. No girl in her senses would have taken the trouble to do what she did to-day without some grievance ! Oh, that girl! She is beyond words!

Carl cut short the Turk's apologies for not having supported Frazer, with the dreadful curt pleasantness of an alienated friend, and, as he began packing his clothes in two old suit-cases, insisted, "It's all right was your biz whether you stood up in chapel or not."

"There, Mr. Ericson," said Mrs. Henkel, a plump, decent, disapproving person, who had known too many generations of great Platonians to be impressed by anything, "you see what the public thinks of your Professor Frazer. I told you people wouldn't stomach such news, and I wouldn't wonder if they strongly disapproved."

"Then we, Captain Frazer and I, must divide the responsibility for your future," she replied. "In any case, may it be all good!" The drapery fell backward over his departing figure, and, for an instant, Ethel stood staring at the swaying folds. Then, turning, she walked back to the fire. "All good," she repeated. "I know you echo the wish, Captain Frazer. But isn't it hard to say good by?"

Frazer, again, thinks less of the evidence for Totems among 'Aryans' than I was inclined to do. But it is not, perhaps, an overstatement to say that explanation of myths by analysis of names, and the lately overpowering predominance of the Dawn, and the Sun, and the Night in mythological hypothesis, have received a slight check.

He went out, placid and smiling, and Margaret sobbed plentifully until it became necessary to go to her room and remove the traces of her grief. So it may be assumed that her tears were not all occasioned by grief for the contemplated loss of her ill-chosen mate. When the others returned from their excursion, Frazer explained to them all that was needful with reference to Capella's visit.

Herodotus tells us that no Ionian woman would ever mention the name of her husband, nor may a Hindu woman do so. Frazer says that the custom of the Kaffir woman of South Africa not to speak the name of her own or husband's relations has given rise to an almost entirely different language from that of the men through the substitution of new words for the words thus banned.

Homes in the east were abandoned to rush into the wilds of the West. No gold fever of the South was ever more exciting, and to add thereto, they found that the government proposed building a line of railway from end to end of the Dominion. Then the Frazer, Saskatchewan, Red River and Assiniboine became household words.

In this connection some well considered words of Sir James Frazer are well worth noting. He says:
