Frank! where art thou come to? Didst not thou say, only a few weeks back: "I will smile when the hour of death comes," and now thou art craving for life, and thou art shrinking from death. Frank Mathers thought that his complaint was Angina Pectoris. He consulted a book on Pathology. He learnt that even with this terrible disease a person might, by careful living, attain a certain age.

"Jimmie might not have died from angina pectoris," he said, "and still not have been poisoned " "You mean " "Suicide." Slowly Helen took in his meaning, but she volunteered no remark, and Kent after a pause, added, "While I have not seen Coroner Penfield I did hear last night what killed Jimmie." Helen straightened up, one hand pressed to her heart. "It was a lethal dose of amyl nitrite."

And now for the thriller. Old "Arapahoe" Grimes dies of angina pectoris one night so Helen informs us in a stage-ferryboat whisper over the footlights while only his secretary was present. The cash disappears at the same time. "Gawd knows I love him; but if he has done this deed " you sabe, don't you?

The rubbing will be greatly assisted by a good hot fomentation to the feet, or even up to the haunches. The use of Kneipp linen underwear, by promoting a healthy action of the skin, and rapidly conducting away the perspiration from its surface, will do much to prevent chills, either real or imaginary. See Angina Pectoris, Underwear, Massage. Chloroform. See Child-bearing.

It is a disturbance of the heart which most frequently attacks men, probably more than three fourths of all cases of this disease occurring in men; in a large majority of the cases the coronary arteries are diseased. Various pains which are not true angina pectoris occur in the left side of the chest; these have been called pseudo-anginas. They will be referred to later.

"No, but the police contend that Rochester recognized Jimmie in his make-up and decided to kill him; hoping his death would be attributed to angina pectoris, and no post-mortem held," wound up Kent. "I don t quite understand" Helen raised her handkerchief to her forehead and removed a drop of moisture. "How did Philip kill Jimmie there in court before us all?"

"I understand, Doctor, that you had been treating Lord Southery for angina pectoris?" I said. "Yes," was the reply, "for some months." "You regard the circumstances of his end as entirely consistent with a death from that cause?" "Certainly. Do you observe anything unusual yourself? Sir Frank Narcombe quite agrees with me. There is surely no room for doubt?"

In all cases of sudden death think of angina pectoris and the rupture of an aneurism. Aortic incompetence. Rupture of heart. Rupture of a valve. Rupture of aortic aneurism. Embolism of coronary artery. Angina pectoris. Cerebral hæmorrhage or embolism. Mitral and tricuspid valvular lesions if the patient exerts himself.

"I've been through a good deal lately; and sometimes it ketches me round the heart like a pain." In his life of selfish immunity from grief, Beaton could not understand this experience that poignant sorrow brings; he said to himself that Dryfoos was going the way of angina pectoris; as he began shuffling off the tiger-skin he said: "Had you better get up? Wouldn't you like me to call a doctor?"

Amyl nitrite is required only when a sudden immediate effect is desired in angina pectoris or in some other serious spasmodic condition. Sodium nitrite is more likely to upset the stomach than is nitroglycerin. It acts, however, a little longer, but not enough to warrant its frequent selection. The dose of sodium nitrite is from 0.03 to 0.06 gm.
