Among both the quaestors of the consuls, Lucius Atilius and Lucius Furius Bibaculus; twenty-one military tribunes; several who had passed the offices of consul, praetor, and aedile; among these they reckon Cneius Servilius Germinus, and Marcus Minucius, who had been master of the horse on a former year, and consul some years before: moreover eighty, either senators, or who had borne those offices by which they might be elected into the senate, and who had voluntarily enrolled themselves in the legions.
At the end of a year he renewed his practice in the courts at Rome, being hardly anything more than a mere lawyer for five years, when he was elected an Aedile, to whom the care of the public buildings was intrusted. It was while he was aedile-elect that Cicero appeared as the public prosecutor of Verres.

In order, then, that he should have been aedile under Titus, even admitting that he could boast, like Cicero, of having obtained all his honours in the prescribed years "omnes honores anno suo" and been aedile the moment he was qualified by age for the office, he must have been born, at least, as far back as the year 44.

But the Sicilians, in testimony of their gratitude, came and brought him all sorts of presents from the island, when he was aedile; of which he made no private profit himself, but used their generosity only to reduce the public price of provisions. He had a very pleasant seat at Arpi, he had also a farm near Naples, and another about Pompeii, but neither of any great value.
