Three men were chosen two officers and a private Dick Swinton, Jack Lorrimer, and a private named Nutt. The three men started from different points, and their instructions were to converge and join forces, and pass through a narrow ravine, which was the only possible path. Once through this, they could make a bolt for the American lines.

Robert sails in, and Nutt breaks off the account. He'd spieled along for half an hour in his usual vein when Mr. Robert flags him long enough to call me over. "By the way, Torchy," says Mr. Robert, "before I forget it " and he hands me one of Marjorie's cards with a date and "Music" written in the southwest corner. I gazes at it puzzled.

On the West end of the Island is a large Tree which looks like a large Tower, and about the Middle of the Island are two Cocoa Nutt Trees that appears above all the other wood, which as we approached the Island looked very much like a flag. We approached the north side of this Island within a Mile, and found no Bottom with 130 fathoms of line, nor did there appear to be Anchorage about it.

There we have the Obstacles to Pursuit mainly in the form of forest, mountain, and river, which the late Mr. Alfred Nutt pointed out to be the natural boundaries of the Nether-World in Teutonic Paganism. It is, therefore, possible that our story has been "contaminated" or influenced by the notion of the "Descent to Hell."

Thorgerd Holgabrud. Snorri has a bare allusion to it. Holger Danske, or Ogier Le Danois. See Corpus Poeticum Boreale, vol. i. p. cxxx., and No. 10 of this series. Rydberg in the Teutonic Mythology, and by Mr. Nutt in the Voyage of Bran. Ballads. Professor Child is perhaps hasty in regarding the two parts of Clerk Saunders as independent.

For some years he had not been exhibited in New York, and during these years he had increased considerably in rotundity and had changed much in his general appearance. It was a singular fact, however, that Commodore Nutt was almost a fac-simile of General Tom Thumb, as he looked half-a-dozen years before.

In 1815 Sir Walter Scott printed a hundred copies from a manuscript in the Advocates' Library in Edinburgh. He did not put his name on the book, but Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe, in a note on his own copy, affirms that Sir Walter was the editor. Another edition was edited, for Mr. Nutt, by the present writer, in 1893. In the year following the completion of his book Mr.

Here were Cocoa nutt Trees, Bread Fruit Trees, and Plantain Trees, but we saw no fruit but on the former, and these were small and Green; the other Trees, Shrubs, Plants, etc., were likewise such as is common in the South Sea Islands and in New Holland. Upon my return to the Ship we hoisted in the boat and made sail to the Westward, with a design to leave the Coast altogether.

So she just tucks him under one arm, claps a hand over his mouth, and lugs him kickin' and strugglin' into the lib'ry, givin' Nutt a shove to one side as she brushes by. You can guess too there was some panicky doin's in the Ellins's drawin' room for the next few minutes; Mr. Robert and Marjorie and others tryin' to tell Hamilton what they thought of him, all at the same time.

The sun, Closing his benediction, Sinks, and the darkening air Thrills with a sense of the triumphing night Night, with her train of stars And her great gift of sleep. "So be my passing! My task accomplished and the long day done, My wages taken, and in my heart Some late lark singing, Let me be gathered to the quiet west, The sundown splendid and serene, Death." D. Nutt, 1888.
