17 August 1912 Talk at Green Acre Eliot, Maine The physical beauty of this place is very wonderful. We hope that a spiritual charm may surround and halo it; then its beauty will be perfect. There is a spiritual atmosphere manifest here particularly at sunset. In cities like New York the people are submerged in the sea of materialism.

The view is obstructed to the east-north-east to north by it; but to the north-west and west there is an appearance of rising ground, thickly wooded, about twenty miles off. Wind, west. As the narrative stands it seems to imply that before this time there had been no Christian propaganda outside Jerusalem.

To this Cæsar, who would not wait the conclusion of his speech, generously replied, that he came into Italy not to injure the liberties of Rome and its citizens, but to restore them. 17.

"SOS" the most tragic of all the calls of the sea, was coming to them as a frantic appeal sent out through the air to any and all who might hear and respond. "SOS," the lieutenant wrote down hurriedly as the message came through space. And then: "American Memphis submarine pursuing 53-1/2 lat. 17 W. lon. running fifteen knots three points south of west."
