I am not positive, but as nearly as I can remember Frisk-and-Glitter's song ran in this wise: Dream, dream, dream Of meadow, wood, and stream; Of bird and bee, Of flower and tree, All under the noonday gleam; Of the song and play Of mirthful day Dream, dream, dream! This was very soothing, as you would suppose.

Eight bells would at last be struck, and the men on deck, exhilarated by the prospect of changing places with us, would call the watch in a most provoking but mirthful and facetious style. As thus: "Starboard watch, ahoy! eight bells there, below!

"Then we will go there alone, we two, and kill him! Kill the three!" He laughed. But not a man in France felt less mirthful. "You would have me kill my son?" "He would have killed you." "That makes no difference." I looked at him, groping after the thoughts that swayed him, and catching at them dimly.

She was a thing of mere physical life a gay and glorious creature of the sun, and the wind, and the dews; who exchanged as carelessly and unconsciously as a flower, the sweet smell of her beauty for the bounties of nature, and pierced the ear of heaven with her mirthful songs, from nothing higher than the instinct of a bird.

The house door stood open as Gratton had left it, and the two entered hastily. Jim looked from face to face with keen, shrewd eyes, ignored Jarrold, who said a mirthful "Evenin', Jim," and turned to Gloria for explanation. "Miss Gloria wanted " began Gratton. But Jim Spalding lifted a big hand as though to ward off the words. "I'm here, miss," he said when Gloria's white face only stared at him."

When the Senate, in a mirthful mood, proposed to refer the petition to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Douglas protested that the subject should be treated seriously.

Many a loud laugh might then be heard ringing the night echo into reverberation; mirthful was the gabble in hard guttural Irish; and now and then a song from some one whose potations had been, rather copious, would rise on the night-breeze, to which a chorus was subjoined by a dozen voices from the neighboring groups.

On the platform there was one of his own spinners, a lad of seventeen years old. The audience were mostly young men and women, and they were dressed for dancing. A mirthful spirit pervaded the room and the usual order was wanting. The lad speaking appeared to be an object of criticism and amusement rather than of respect but he went on talking in a schoolboy fashion of "the rights of the people."

Tim Denton, who had been staring at the face of the Healer, stood for an instant like one with all his senses arrested. Then he gasped, and exclaimed, "Well, I'm eternally " and broke off with a low laugh, which was at first mirthful, and then became ominous and hard. "Oh, magnificent magnificent jerickety!" he said into the sky above him.

Shrewd, cool-headed, cruel, I think subtle as well." "Nonsense," Mrs. Ravenel interrupted, with a smile which might not have been so mirthful had she seen at that moment the man of whom she spoke. Near the north gate McDermott had brought his horse suddenly to a walk. There was no longer gayety in his manner or his face.
