Paul is quoting from the book of Deuteronomy these words: "Cursed" there is another ugly word "cursed is everyone who continueth not in all the words of the book of this law to do them." Let me ask: Does that describe your friends? Well, I guess it describes us all, does it not? Who is there here that has continued in all the words of the book of this law to do them?
An' yet there's a command in Deuteronomy, Ye shall na tak the millstone in pledge, for it's a man's life; nor yet keep his raiment ower night, but gie it the puir body back, that he may sleep in his ain claes, an' bless ye. O but pawnbrokers dinna care for blessings na marketable value in them, whatsoever."
In the book of Deuteronomy there is an allusion made to a destructive creature in the following terms: "Their wine is the poison of dragons and the cruel venom of asps." It is thought that the gecko is the animal contemplated in this description, it being acknowledged by all naturalists to contain a mortal poison.
Before this I had never discovered, nor had any one pointed them out to me, the many discrepancies and contradictions in the early Biblical records, the two stories of creation, the two accounts of the flood that are so intricately woven together, the changes in the law in Deuteronomy from those in Exodus and Leviticus; and others.

Paul is taking liberties with Moses by generalizing the statements in Deuteronomy 21:23. Moses has 'he that is hanged. Paul puts it 'every one that hangeth. On the other hand, Paul omits the words 'of God' in his quotation from Moses: 'For he that is hanged is accursed of God. Moses speaks of a criminal who is worthy of death."
