As he travelled about from country to country he spread the fame of the Brethren's labours in every great city in Germany, in England, in Switzerland, in North America, and in the West Indies; and by this time he was known personally to the King of Denmark, to Potter, Archbishop of Canterbury, to John and Charles Wesley, to Bengel, the famous commentator, and to many other leaders in the Lutheran Church.
A year and a half later Kuzma Vassilyevitch received a letter in German from Emilie, alias Frederika Bengel, which he promptly had translated for him and showed us more than once in later days. It was full of mistakes in spelling and exclamation marks; the postmark on the envelope was Breslau.
John Wesley was not the author but only the copy holder of what Doctor Bengel has explained in the Revelation.
The venerable Bengel had procured a decided reception for his labors on the Revelation of St. John, from the fact that he was known as an intelligent, upright, God-fearing, blameless man. Deep minds are compelled to live in the past as well as in the future.
One of those forerunners, was Doctor Bengel, disclosing what belonged to his mission in the first half of the last century, so that in the same years of the 18th century remarkable disclosures have been made by his instrumentality, in which years in the 19th century Heavenly messengers have given great disclosures by my instrumentality regarding Christ's peaceable reign on earth.

He was then anointed with the oil of assurance and gladness in a more peculiar and transcendent manner. 'In His baptism, says Bengel, 'our Lord was magnificently enlightened.
Doctor Bengel and the whole body of messengers who came from his school proclaiming the coming of Christ about the year 1836, and Wm. Miller and the army of preachers with him who were proclaiming Christ's coming about the year 1843, and others proclaiming it in some other period, were ignorant about the manner of his coming or of his manifestation for establishing his peaceable reign.
But we have shown according to our mission in the 3rd. of the mentioned volumes, that Doctor Bengel was not mistaken in what belonged to the sphere of his mission, and his wonderful calculation was correct regarding the time, but that what he wrote regarding the manner of Christ's coming and other things were not correct, which not he but the third angel, Revel. xiv. 8, had to disclose; because the year 1836 was the tropical year, at the expiration of which the 3d angel had to appear, and then to perform his task and explain the prophetical images and other things which have not been understood before that explanation; because the Lord came at that time as a thief, Revel. xvi: 15.
The old commentator, Bengel, wrote at the beginning of his book that a man, who is setting out to interpret Scripture, has to ask "by what right" he does it. What is our right to an opinion on Jesus Christ? The third canon will be: Ask of what type and of what dimensions the nature must be, that is capable of that experience and of that language.
