The Rajah was surprised that the young Ranee should know his wife's name, but he made some excuse as to why Guzra Bai was not there. Then the young Rajah said, "Send for her, I beg of you, for the feast cannot begin till she is here." The older Rajah was still more surprised at this.

So Reginald, knowing his friend's sentiments, considered the matter settled. He took an early opportunity of telling Burnett, who thanked him heartily for having undertaken his cause with the ranee.
So she went, and her father was delighted to see her; but her stepmother, though she pretended to be very kind, was in reality only glad to think she had got the Ranee into her power, and determined, if possible, never to allow her to return to the palace again.
And they took such good care of him that in a little while he regained his health and strength also, and looked almost as well as ever. He then found to his surprise that he, Panch-Phul Ranee, and their son, had all this time been living in his father's kingdom. His father was so delighted to see him again that he was no longer unkind to him, but treated him as a dearly beloved, long lost son.
