Seman incense is the emission of Horus; it stablisheth the heart of Horus-Set, it purifieth the gods who are in the following of Horus. Thou art censed with natron. Thou art established among the gods thy brethren. Thy mouth is like that of a sucking calf on the day of its birth. Thou art censed. Thou art censed. Thou art pure. Thou art pure. Thou art established among thy brethren the gods.

'And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure. 1 John iii. 3. That is a very remarkable 'and' with which this verse begins. The Apostle has just been touching the very heights of devout contemplation, soaring away up into dim regions where it is very hard to follow, 'We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

10 This is a most astonishing natural phenomenon: that such a river as the Thames, receiving constantly all the filth of a vast metropolis, containing more than two millions of inhabitants, buries it all, and yet purifieth itself. Ed. 11 Light bread is an allusion to Numbers 21:5: 'our soul loatheth this light bread. The heavenly manna, like Christ, is despised and rejected of man. Ed.

Proceeding next, O son of the Kuru race, to Vansamulaka, a pilgrim by bathing there, raiseth, O king, his own race. O best of the Bharatas, arriving next at the tirtha called Kayasodhana, and bathing there, one purifieth, without doubt, his body, and proceeded with purified body to the blessed region of unrivalled excellence.

When He shines out we shall shine out with Him. We are told every one who has this hope in him, purifieth himself even as he is pure. And thus in this special fashion the Holy Spirit affirms the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is not only the climacteric of our avouchment as sons of God, but, when held as a hope in the heart, will keep us pure and clean as the Holy Christ Himself.

" 'He that believeth in him shall not be ashamed, " said John, softly. " 'This is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life; and who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Not death, nor things present, nor things to come. But he that hath this hope in him, purifieth himself, even as he is pure; let us remember that too." "Mr.

'Having these promises, dearly beloved! let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. 'Every man who hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure. The result of the great promise of eternal life and of the hope that it kindles is meant to be that it shall purge our spirits from meanness, from sense, from undue dependence upon the miserable trivialities of to-day, that it shall emancipate us from slavery to the moment, and lead us into the liberty of the eternities, 'while we look not at the things that are seen, but at the things which are not seen. Oh! if we would only see clearly and habitually before us for we could if we would what God's heart inclines Him to do for us, and what He certainly will do for us, in the far-off future, if we will only let Him, do you not think that these trifles that put us off our equanimity this morning would have been borne with a little more composure?

"He that hath this hope in him purifieth himself even as he is pure." That very breath by which he inflates the lungs, can you breathe it back in blasphemies against his holy name, which angels never pronounce but with veneration and awe? Choose, O choose a good name, which can only be obtained by choosing a virtuous course of conduct.

Love! love is gone, and now coveting, pinching, griping, and such things are in fashion: now iniquity abounds, instead of grace, in many that name the name, of Christ. They want love, and therefore cannot depart from iniquity. As was said before of faith, so we say now of hope. He purifieth himself even as he is pure; to wit, in soul, in body, in spirit, in life and conversation.

You will only grant that such is God's Word which purifieth and bringeth peace and life; but seeing it worketh not in the ungodly, therefore it is not God's Word.
