In Peter Pan , the dramatization of the novel, The Little White Bird, care-free, prankish Peter Pan visits three children in their sleep and teaches them to fly away with him. He carries them to the little people of the fairy world, to the pirate ship, to other scenes dear to children's hearts, and finally to his home in the tree tops. The play is a mixture of fancy, symbolism, and realism.
I called it the first step towards the dramatization of a story, and so it is in a book like Esmond, a broadly pictured novel of manners. But it is more than this in a book like The Master of Ballantrae, where the subject is a piece of forcible, closely knit action.
Not merely the fact that it had introduced certain types of content such as drawing, manual training, domestic science, dramatization, story work, but also that it had not lost sight of the fundamental purpose of elementary education, but had so organized all of its studies that each played into the hands of the others, and that everything that was done had some definite and tangible relation to everything else.
In the Gary Schools and elsewhere the making of things in the shops, the modelling of a Panama Canal, the inspection of industries and governmental establishments, the designing, building, and decoration of houses, the discussion and even dramatization of the books read, all are a logical and inevitable continuation of the abstract knowledge of the schoolroom.

No-no-no! if those pewblisher' find out you are satisfi' by one-tenth, one-tenth is all you'll ever see!" "Ah," said mademoiselle to madame, "even the one-tenth I mustn't tell to my aunts. They wouldn't sleep to-night. And myself 'publication, dramatization, movies, translation' I believe I'll lie awake till daylight, making that into a song a hymn!"
With this self-exposure the direct Poe-quality of the technique comes to an end. Moreover, Poe would end the story here. But the Poe-dream is set like a dark jewel in a gold ring, of which more anon. Let us dwell upon the confession. The first stage of this conscience-climax is reached by the dramatization of The Tell-tale Heart reminiscence in the memory of the dreaming man.
Nothing remains to me of the happy time but a sense of idle and aimless and joyful talk-play, beginning and ending nowhere, of eager laughter, of countless good stories from Fields, of a heat-lightning shimmer of wit from Aldrich, of an occasional concentration of our joint mockeries upon our host, who took it gladly; and amid the discourse, so little improving, but so full of good fellowship, Bret Harte's fleeting dramatization of Clemens's mental attitude toward a symposium of Boston illuminates.
The WASHINGTON POST, commenting on the Washington performance, said: The play was presented with all the impressiveness of a sermon; with all the vigor and dynamic force of a great drama; with all the earnestness and power of a vital truth. In many respects the presentation of this dramatization of a great social evil assumed the aspects of a religious service. Dr.
And tha'z but the biginning; you have not count' the dramatization hundreds the week! and those movie' the same! and those tranzlation'!" "Well, I think we will be satisfied, Mr. Chester, with the tenth of that, eh?" Chester's reply was drowned in monsieur's: "No, my child! But nine-tenth' maybe, yes!
