Under the most favorable conditions Saturn can never be nearer than 744,000,000 miles to the earth, or eight times the sun's distance from us. It receives from the sun about one ninetieth of the light and heat that we get. Saturn takes twenty-nine and a half years to complete a journey about the sun.

We may write the above compounds thus: H SO , H SO H O, H SO 2H O. If we measure the heat evolved in the formation of the two latter compounds, it is, for H SO +H O, 6.272; H SO +2H O, 3.092. But if we now take the compound H SO +3H O we have heat evolved 1.744; so we can have H SO 4H O, etc. Where are we to draw the line between atomic and molecular combination, and why?

It should be observed that the sum of $96,096,922.09, expended for reimbursements and redemption of public debt, being included also in the loans made, may be properly deducted both from receipts and expenditures, leaving the actual receipts for the year $487,788,324.97, and the expenditures $474,744,778.16.

Here, too, Pope Stephen had his famous interview with Pepin, and attended the crowning of Louis le Débonnaire in 816 A. D. In 744 it was made an archbishop's see, with suffragans at Amiens, Beauvais, Chalons, and Soissons. It is to-day the ecclesiastical capital of France the Archbishop of Reims being the metropolitan prelate.

He owned 9,744 acres, valued at $10 an acre, on the Ohio River in Virginia, 3,075 acres, worth $200,000, on the Great Kenawa, and also land elsewhere in Virginia and in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky, the City of Washington and other places.

Ioannow, 2,868 tons; Demetrios Inglessis, 2,088 tons; Tsiropinas, 3,015 tons. Spanish: Valle, 2,365 tons; Manuel, 2,419 tons; Parahyba, 2,537 tons. Toward the end of January, 1917, the severity of submarine warfare was noticeably increased.

By midsummer there had been a total force of 197 vessels manned, and partially equipped, with an aggregate of 29,744 tons, and 15,785 seamen. Of this fleet a very large number were mere coasters of less than 100 tons each; scarcely ten ships were above 500, and but one above 1000 tons the Triumph, Captain Frobisher, of 1100 tons, 42 guns, and 500 sailors.

When this company failed, it was liable in the sum of $2,939,925.22 to 61,131 depositors. Dividends amounting in the aggregate to 62 per cent have been declared, and the sum called for and paid of such dividends seems to be $1,648,181.72. This sum deducted from the entire amount of deposits leaves $1,291,744.50 still unpaid.
