"Autumn Leaves from the Tree of Life." The verses were selected with great taste and care, and the little ones did their part well. The following are some of those selected: Exodus xxvi, 16. Leviticus xxii, 10. Psalms l, 19; cxlv, 14; cxxxvi, 1, 25. Isaiah lv, 10. 1 Corinthians x, 26. Hebrews xiii, 2. Revelations xix, 5.
On: Gen. i. 27-28, compar'd and explain'd by Gen. ii. 18, 23, 24 Dent. xxiv. 1-2. Matth. v. 31-32, with Matth. xix., from the 3 v. to the 11th. 1 Cor vii., from the 10th to the 16th.
XIX. The First Commandment forbids us to have other gods, and thereby commands that we have a God, the true God, by a firm faith, trust, confidence, hope and love, which are the only works whereby a man can have, honor and keep a God; for by no other work can one find or lose God except by faith or unbelief, by trusting or doubting; of the other works none reaches quite to God.
XIX. Immediately after the great war, he began to rebuild and fortify the city. In order to succeed in this, Theopompus says that he bribed the Spartan ephors into laying aside opposition, but most writers say that he outwitted them by proceeding to Sparta nominally on an embassy.
More than one face among the Bowdens showed that only opportunity and stimulus were lacking, a narrow set of circumstances had caged a fine able character and held it captive. One sees exactly the same types in a country gathering as in the most brilliant city company. You are safe to be understood if the spirit of your speech is the same for one neighbor as for the other. XIX. The Feast's End
The primitive accounts, in Exodus xix., of the establishment of the covenant by Jehovah with his people mark the real beginning of the process of canonization, a process, that is, of attributing to certain laws a unique and commanding authority. Likewise the successive civil, humane, and ceremonial decalogues appear from the days of the united kingdom to have occupied a similar position.
XVIII. Scout-boat and Channels, XIX. Uchee Indians, XX. A mutiny in the Camp, and attempt at assassination, XXI. Memoir of Tomo-Chichi, XXII. General Oglethorpe's manifesto, XXIII. Fate of Colonel Palmer, XXIV. Account of the siege of St. Augustine, XXV. Spanish invasion, XXVI. Order for a Thanksgiving,
XIX. And as this is the case, I shall consider that I have said enough at present about Caesar.
Rather shall I say that the Son and the Spirit, the Word and the Wisdom, were alone worshipped, because alone revealed under the Law. See Proverbs, i. ii. The passage quoted from Bishop Bull is very plausible and very eloquent; but only 'cum multis granis salis sumend'. Query XIX. p. 279.
There is just one line in Homer which disregards the distinction iron for implements, bronze for weapons; it is in Odyssey, XVI. 294; XIX. 13. Telemachus is told to remove the warlike harness of Odysseus from the hall, lest the wooers use it in the coming fray.
