Cologne Cathedral took 600 years to build. Generations of architects and builders lived and died while the work was in progress. Still the work went on. Sometimes a generation built wrongly, and the next generation had to unbuild, and the next generation had to build again.

As I knocked the old place down, it seemed to grow up, more vivid as it passed from the roadside of the visible to the realm of the remembered. You may think you know a house by living in it, but you do not; you need to unbuild it to get more than a passing acquaintance.

Again and again religion has been pronounced obsolete, but passing through the midst of its detractors it serenely goes its way. When men laboriously erect its sepulchre, faith, Like a child from the womb, like a ghost from the tomb, Will arise and unbuild it again. Its indestructible vitality is evidence that it is an inherent element in human nature, that the unbeliever is a subnormal man.

Sen. To unbuild the city and to lay all flat. Sic. What is the city, but the people. Cit. TRUE, The people are the city. Bru. By the consent of ALL, we were established The people's magistrates. Cit. And to unbuild a building you need to be strong of limb, heavy of hand, and sure of eye, lest the structure upon which you have fallen fall upon you; nor do business mottoes count, for you begin not at the bottom, but at the top, or near it.

And when he is no more I shall have time to unbuild the structure he has raised with lies for stones and my name coupled with some evil deed cut in every stone.

He easily sees that a true manhood would disuse our ways of teaching and worshipping, would unbuild and rebuild every town and house, would tear away the jails and abolish pauperism as well as slavery. He sees the power of government lying unused and unsuspected in spelling-books and Bibles.

That is one of Shelley's happiest poems.

Nothing but unbuilding the whole place would free the locks after that. And it would be a mighty smart firm that could unbuild this place inside a fortnight. No! he said again. 'No gammon with the clock unless we could make it go quicker. 'Then there's nothing, Simon stammered. Mr. Galpin gazed at the young man. 'Assuming I do the job, what's the job worth? he asked. 'It's worth anything.
