A sight of Jesus in the word; some know how it will change them from glory to glory. But how then shall we be changed and filled, when we shall see him as he is? "When he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." Moses and Elias appeared to Peter and James and John, at the transfiguration of Christ, "in glory." Hew so?
Raphael represented the feminine element in contrast with Michelangelo's rude masculinity. There hangs the great 'Transfiguration, which, all but finished, was set up by the young painter's body when he lay in state a picture too large for the sentiment it should express, while far too small for the subject it presents yet, in its way, a masterpiece of composition.

Much less evident is this tendency in Raphael's greatest works, the Stanze and the Cartoons, in which true dramatic significance and the sovereign beauties of exalted style generally go hand in hand. The Transfiguration itself is, however, the most crying example of the reversal of the natural order in the inception of a great work.
It is when a gland, either in the course of development, or because of the influence of starvation, shock, injury, poisoning or infection, begins to undersecrete or oversecrete that its effects upon growth and nutrition become grossly manifest. A veritable transfiguration of the individual may occur, the black magic of which may perplex him for a lifetime.
