Under the code of the Vagrery, to plunder a Frank is a pious act. But if the Vagres delight in pillaging our conquerors, it is only in order to administer to the wants of the poor by making them sharers in the plunder. On the other hand, to plunder a thief for self-gain is a sin according to the code of the Vagrery.

The Empire was no longer put up to sale, the immediate and intolerable evil was effectually cured, though another danger remained, that of disputes and wars between the various sharers of the imperial power; still it was a smaller danger and one which did not manifest itself so long as Diocletian remained at the helm.

Women therefore are highly favored, and show by these things that they are sharers with us in the grace of life. All the glory of this world, had not Adam had a wife, could not have completed this man's blessedness. He would yet have been wanting.

In figure, manner, and dress he was hardly distinguishable from hundreds of his countrymen, who were not sharers of his military abilities. Does not his broad forehead indicate thoughtfulness? While his keen and penetrating eyes and firmly set lips are marks of determination and singleness of purpose. And his broad chin, does it not reveal the man of tenacity and endurance?

The master kept, as often as the wood permitted, abreast of one or both of his domestics, and seemed earnestly to converse with them, probably because the distinctions of rank are readily set aside among those who are made to be sharers of common danger.

FOR this cause am I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, if so be, that ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you: that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote unto you before briefly; wherein when ye read, ye may be able to perceive my knowledge in the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the children of men, as it hath been now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; that the Gentiles should be co-heirs, and of the same body, and sharers with them of his promise in Christ by the Gospel: of which I am made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God, which was given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

It is perhaps even a touch beyond any dreamt-of harmony that, under omission of no martial honour, he was to be carried by comrades and devoted waiting sharers, whose evidence survives them, to the steep summit of a Greek island of infinite grace and there placed in such earth and amid such beauty of light and shade and embracing prospect as that the fondest reading of his young lifetime could have suggested nothing better.

Let this be recorded, from the personal knowledge of sharers in that combat whatever after-history may choose to consider authority on the subject, that the Federal troops never permanently yielded one foot of ground during the fight, however worn-out with fatigue, embarrassed by a cramped position, outnumbered and at one time half-surrounded.

If any of us have any advantage in personal character, intellect, or fortune, we should be ready to make our friends sharers and partners in it with ourselves. For instance, if their parents are in humble circumstances, if their relations are powerful neither in intellect nor means, we should supply their deficiencies and promote their rank and dignity.

And those Daityas were both of the same resolution, and ever engaged in achieving the same tasks and ends. They were ever sharers with each other in happiness as well as in woe. Each speaking and doing what was agreeable to the other, the brothers never were unless they were together, and never went anywhere unless together.
