Following up its successes, the Catholic League prevailed upon the Emperor Ferdinand II in the same year to sign the Edict of Restitution, restoring to the Church all the property that had been secularized in violation of the peace of Augsburg of 1555.
It is my impression, from an inspection of the book, that we are the first untitled visitors. The traveler cannot but like Augsburg at once, for its quaint houses, colored so diversely and yet harmoniously.
