After healing the leper, our Lord said to him: "Go thy way, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded for a testimony unto them." Our Savior here quotes from Lev. xiv. 2-8. II. Verses 2-8 appear to tell the same incidents twice over first, more generally in verses 2 and 8, and then more minutely. Such expanded repetition is characteristic of the Old Testament historical style. It is somewhat difficult to make sure of the real circumstances.
Delitzsch, Babylonische Weltschöpfungsepos, p. 99, questions the identity with Ea, but his skepticism is unwarranted, though the title is also used of Bel. Here used to comprise the army of Tiâmat. I.e., thy power is equal to that of Anu. Exod. iv. 2-8; other parallels might be adduced. I.e., far off. I.e., that a wind might not carry her off.
