These imitations may be likened to clouds which obscure the sunrise; but reality is the sun. If the clouds disperse, the Sun of Reality shines upon all, and no difference of vision will exist. The religions will then agree, for fundamentally they are the same. The subject is one, but predicates are many. The divine religions are like the progression of the seasons of the year.

We cannot therefore take the compound 'five people' as denoting a group consisting of five constituent members, but, in agreement with Pan. II, 1, 50, as merely being a special name. There are certain beings the special name of which is 'five-people, and of these beings the additional word 'panka' predicates that they are five in number.

The other, corresponding to our Nature, was in itself phenomenal, unreal, without any permanent footing, having no predicates that held true for two moments together, in short, redeemed from negation only by including indwelling realities appearing through. Well I mean to say what? And Nietzsche, from all accounts, a lot worse than that!

This conception of a sum-total of reality is the conception of a thing in itself, regarded as completely determined; and the conception of an ens realissimum is the conception of an individual being, inasmuch as it is determined by that predicate of all possible contradictory predicates, which indicates and belongs to being.

Now, a sensuous object is completely determined, when it has been compared with all phenomenal predicates, and represented by means of these either positively or negatively.

But we cannot cogitate it as a thing determinable by certain distinct predicates relating to its internal nature, for it has no connection with empirical conceptions; nor are we justified in affirming the existence of any such object. It is, consequently, a mere product of the mind alone.

Existence denotes nothing further than the position of the subject with all the marks which are thought in its concept that is, its relation to our knowledge, but does not itself belong to the predicates of the concept, and hence cannot be analytically derived from the latter.

When we carried a large pail full of it out of the woods, it seemed still more like ore. Your native bee-hunter predicates the distance of the tree by the time the bee occupies in making its first trip. But this is no certain guide. You are always safe in calculating that the tree is inside of a mile, and you need not as a rule look for your bee's return under ten minutes.

"And by what process of ratiocination," said one of them, "do you arrive at the conclusion that the division of society into producing and non-possessing classes predicates failure when compared with competitive systems that are monopolizing in tendency and result inimically to industrial evolution?" "Oh, come off your perch!" said the other man, who wore glasses.

In the third place it is self-contradictory, for after theology has removed the Deity as far away from man as possible, by means of the negative metaphysical predicates, it finds itself necessitated to bring the two together again through the moral attributes which are neither compatible with one another nor with the meta-physical and crowns the absurdity by the assurance that we can please God by believing that which is incomprehensible.
