We can destroy or upset an aggregation, but can never hinder the individuals composing it from again uniting to form another aggregation. From these two divergent points of view follows the endless series of irreconcilable divergencies between Realists and Idealists.

As my object is to convey to the reader merely a general idea of the institution, I refrain from confusing him by an enumeration of the endless divergencies from the original type. Since 1719 eleven revisions have been made, the last in 1897. The intervals varied from six to forty-one years.

But whence and why these divergencies? It cannot be without a cause that even one more feather than the parent possessed appears in the offspring's wing, or a novel tint on its coat, or that the curve of beak or talons is not precisely the same in each. What then is the cause?

Such seem to represent the doctrines forming the common ground of the Anabaptist groups as they existed at the end of the second decade of the fifteenth century. There were, however, as Heinrich Bullinger and his contemporary, Sebastian Franck, point out, numerous divergencies between the various sections of the party.

The temperature of infants and young children has a much greater range than this, and is susceptible of wide divergencies from comparatively slight causes. Of the lower warm-blooded animals, there are some that appear to be cold-blooded at birth.

For the moment the man in the slouch hat was giving a detailed account of the different prisons in France. He described the governors of the principal houses of detention; explained the divergencies of discipline in different establishments; and recounted that the food at Poissy was ten times better than that at Fontevrault.

It is the best that has yet been devised, but any student who is set to making a brief of one of the examples of argument at the end of this book will see for himself that there is no one infallible way of making an argument. Each argument must adapt itself to its occasion and its audience; and an instructor will be wise to keep himself awake to this truth by noting divergencies from the model.

She took their hands and began to draw them away without another look at Sylvia, who remained behind, drooping, ostracised, pierced momentarily with her first blighting misgiving about the order of things she had always known. A fuller initiation into the kaleidoscopic divergencies of adult standards was given Sylvia during the visits of her Aunt Victoria.

Of the "Arguments from Embryology," the first is that, when developing embryos are traced from their common starting-point, and their divergencies and re-divergencies are symbolized by a genealogical tree, there is manifest a general parallelism between the arrangement of its primary, secondary, and tertiary branches, and the arrangement of the divisions and subdivisions of Mr.

And it is because this so vivid popular science has its issue from this 'source' it is because it proceeds from this scientific centre, on the scientific radii, through all the divergencies and refrangibilities of the universal beam it is because all this inexhaustible multiplicity and variety of particulars is threaded with the fibre of the universal science it is because all these thick-flowering imaginations, these 'mellow hangings, are hung upon the stems and branches that unite in the trunk of the prima philosophia it is because of this that men find it so prophetic, so inclusive, so magical; this is the reason they find all in it.
