A two-toned all-over design is often chosen for halls and stairs because of the special wear which they receive, and a Chinese rug is a good selection to make with a stair carpet of soft blue and yellow Chinese design to match. A small, figured, all-over design is a good choice for a nursery.

The glass is a modern reproduction of the lovely old eighteenth century mirror glass which has designs cut into it, forming a frame. For chairs, all-over upholstered ones are used, of good lines and proportions; two or three for comfort, and a low slipper-chair for convenience.

It makes women it's their leather boxes full of rings and pins and necklaces, their dresses of all-over lace, their silk and hand scalloped and embroidered underclothes; it's their fascination and chance and power " "I would like to see you in some of those lace things," he returned. "Well, get them for me," she answered hardily.

Wicker furniture will go with almost any kind of attractive paper which is correct for the room, but when there is much figure the cushions should be covered with plain stuff. All-over stuffed furniture when covered with chintz looks best with plain walls. Painted furniture looks well with plain walls and chintz.

Anyone, having mastered the stitches and grasped their scope, can group them for herself, say, into stitches suited to line work, to all-over work, to shading, and so on. These she might again subdivide.

He should resort to the river. Ain't that so, Bill?" "Perfectly correct, Colonel. I kin take an all-over, myself, in fifteen, whenever it's healthy." "But a dollar and a half for a twenty minutes' bath in a public tub is rather steep, seems to me," said I, as I removed my coat and opened my bag. "Not so, suh, if I may question your judgment," the Colonel reproved.

All-over couching may be used with advantage to renew the ground of embroidery so worn as to be unsightly; and is more lasting than laid-work for the purpose. It is laborious to do, but more satisfactory when done than remounting; and one or the other is a necessity sometimes. The effect of age is, up to a certain point, pleasing: rags are not.

Figs. 18 and 19 are border designs, for which purpose this arrangement is often used, though it can also well form an all-over pattern; sometimes these lines used over a surface are made to cross each other, tartan wise, by running in two directions, producing an apparently complicated design by very simple means. Designs may be planned on the counterchange principle.

At least, it had put out the fire. Fire? What fire? The fire in his body, the scalding heat that had been quenched by the cold water. Slowly, as though it were being turned on through a sluggishly turning rheostat, consciousness came back to The Guesser. He began to recognize the sensations in his body. There was a general, all-over dull ache, punctuated here and there by sharper aches.

Whallen examined the horse's bones and teeth; then he stepped back and took a general all-over view. "What do you think of it?" asked the drug clerk. "Is he for sale?" inquired Whallen, before answering. "No, he ain't for sale," answered Todd. "This fellow thinks he ain't a nice horse." "Well," said Whallen, "a man can easy enough put meat on a horse. But he can't put the bones in him."
