In consequence of a thick fog the two boats were separated from each other, and did not come together again until some distance beyond Cape Kanin on the further side of the White Sea, at Kildyn Island, where some fishermen informed the Dutchmen that at Kola there were three ships belonging to their nation, which were ready to put to sea on their return to their own country.
Korable, remarkable for its many caverns, studded with crystals of translucent quartz and amethyst, the former, together with fluor and heavy spar, being met with, too, in the eastern parts of the mountain. According to Reuter, the Anthropological and Geological Society at Stockholm received the following telegram from a ship owner at Mandal: "Captain Hueland, of the steamship Vaagen who arrived there on Monday morning, reports that when off Kola Fjord, Iceland, in 65 degrees 34 minutes north lat., 21 degrees 28 minutes west long., on May 14th he found a drifting buoy, marked 'No. 7. Inside the buoy was a capsule marked 'Andree's Polar Expedition, containing a slip of paper, on which was given the following: 'Drifting Buoy No. 7.
Such drinks usually purport to be made from the kola nut, which contains caffeine, or to consist of extracts from the plants which yield cocoa and chocolate, when in reality they consist of artificial mixtures to which caffeine has been added. Those using these beverages are stimulated as they would be by tea or coffee and soon acquire the habit which makes them regular customers.

The vision of the Administrator of the Ogowe, worn out, but chewing Kola nut to keep himself awake all night while he finishes his papers to go down on the Eclaireur to-morrow morning, is too painful; so I say I will walk back to Dumas' and go on the Eclaireur there, and try to liberate the Administrator from his present engagements, so that he may go back and work.
