The Aymestry Limestone contains many shells, especially brachiopoda, corals, trilobites, and other fossils, amounting on the whole to 74 species, all except three or four being common to the beds either above or below. Phragmoceras ventricosum, J. Sowerby. Fragment of Orthoceras Ludense, J. Sowerby. The latter is partly straight and partly convoluted in a very flat spire.

Shells, pink and pearly, brown and lilac, scarlet and cobalt, strew the flower-decked floor with infinite variety, concave and spiral, ribbed and fluted, fretted and jagged the satin smoothness of convoluted forms lying amid rugged shapes bristling with spines and needles.

For instance, I should like to do two or three leaders a week for one of the big dailies. I can't attain unto that just yet. 'Not political leaders? 'By no means. That's not my line. The kind of thing in which one makes a column out of what would fill six lines of respectable prose. You call a cigar a "convoluted weed," and so on, you know; that passes for facetiousness.

Still higher in the series, so far as the construction of a tenement is concerned, is that known as the SERPULA, a worm which constructs a calcareous tube more or less loosely convoluted and adherent to a shell or stone or coral, or sometimes entwined into a self-supporting colony.

The external ear consists of an expanded portion known as the pinna or auricle, and of a passage, the auditory canal or meatus, leading inwards from it. The surface of the auricle is convoluted to collect and transmit the vibrations of air by which sound is produced the auditory canal conducts these vibrations to the tympanic membrane. Many animals move the auricle in the direction of the sound.

Another climber is like the leaf of an aloe, but convoluted as strangely as shavings from the plane of a carpenter.

In the plan given it will be seen that the horse is led through the washing room into the first hot room. Without turning round, he may be led into the second hot room and thence into the washing room again. The whole length of the vein may be affected, but as a rule the disease is confined to one or more segments, which are not only dilated, but are also increased in length, so that they become convoluted. The adjacent loops of the convoluted vein are often bound together by fibrous tissue.

Very soon Jane entered, tidy, almost matronly in buxom primness, her hair as faultless as if it had come out of a convoluted mould, her grave eyes full of light. She gave him her capable hand. "It's like you to come, Paul." "It's only decent. My father hasn't shown up. What's the matter with him?" "It's a bit of a nervous breakdown," she said, looking at him steadily. "Nothing serious.

High mesas with gracefully rounded and convoluted sides almost entirely surround it, and rising above their floor-like tops, and in fine contrast with their sombre brown tints, appear the blue outlines of the distant mountains.
