It should be mentioned that the great office and dignity of Centre of the Covenant was conferred on Abdul Baha Abbas Effendi by His father. It will be in the memory of most that the Master was retained a prisoner under the Turkish Government at Akka until Sept. 1908, when the doors of His prison were opened by the Young Turks.
After a moment they heard Akka give the signal to start, and called Dunfin. A gray goose came out and flew with the wild geese away from the island. They had travelled quite a distance along the archipelago when the boy began to wonder at the goose who accompanied them. Dunfin always flew lightly and noiselessly, but this one laboured with heavy and noisy wing-strokes.
Mírzá Aḥmad Sohrab recorded in his diary the following prophecy about Akká and Haifa uttered by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá while seated by the window of one of the Bahá’í Pilgrim Homes at Haifa on February 14, 1914:— The view from the Pilgrim Home is very attractive, especially as it faces the Blessed Tom of Bahá’u’lláh.
The town was originally known as Ptolemais, and the situation of it may be found designated on ancient maps under that name. The Turks called it Akka, which name the French call Acre. It was also, after a certain time, called St. Jean d'Acre. It received this name from a famous military order that was founded in the Holy Land in the Middle Ages, called the Knights of St. John.
We were pacing down the length of the bridge, guards of the Akka beside us, others following with those companies of ladala that had rushed to aid us; in front of us the bandaged Rador swung gently within a litter; beside him, in another, lay Nak, the frog-king much less of him than there had been before the battle began, but living. Hours had passed since the terror I have just related.
"Well then, let it be as you wish," said Akka. "Thanks!" said the boy, and he felt so happy that he had to cry for very joy just as he had cried before from sorrow. In south-eastern Skåne not far from the sea there is an old castle called Glimminge. It is a big and substantial stone house; and can be seen over the plain for miles around.
We will keep clean inside and outside of the door and we ourselves will be clean in both mind and body. In this way we will conquer the sickness." One day, while still in Lapland, Akka took the boy to Malmberget, where they discovered little Mats lying unconscious at the mouth of the pit. He and Osa had arrived there a short time before.
The period of His incarceration in Akká brought with it the ripening of a slowly maturing process, and was a period during which the choicest fruits of that mission were ultimately garnered. The writings of Bahá’u’lláh during this period, as we survey the vast field which they embrace, seem to fall into three distinct categories.
Following that, let them send one copy to Akká, so that it may also be approved from here, after which the material will be returned to be published and circulated.
"Trirop, Trirop!" it sounded, "Trianut, the crane, sends greetings to Akka, the wild goose, and her flock. To-morrow will be the day of the great crane dance on Kullaberg." Akka raised her head and answered at once: "Greetings and thanks! Greetings and thanks!"
