His happy, boyish spirits, however, had not changed in the least. About this time the family removed from their home on the Neue Promenade, to a larger and more stately mansion, No. 3 Leipsiger Strasse, then situated on the outskirts of the town, near the Potsdam Gate.
Adolescent youths and girls, said Anton von Menger, in his last book, the pregnant Neue Sittenlehre , must be taught that the production of children, under certain circumstances, is a crime; they must also be taught the voluntary restraint of conception, even in health; such teaching, Menger rightly added, is a necessary preliminary to any legislation in this direction.
An Austrian paper, the Neue Freie Presse, of Vienna, has indulged on the subject of the destiny of de Lesseps in reflections marked by a most judicious psychological insight. Agreeable Germany! who addresses her God, "Thou who dwellest high above the Cherubim, Seraphim and Zeppelin" Parson Diedrich Vorwerck in his volume Hurrah and Hallelujah.
Only in proportion as Socialists can differentiate themselves from non-Socialists in their present activities will the movement have any distinctive meaning of its own. Rappaport, "Der Kongress von Nimes," Die Neue Zeit, 1910, p. 821. Die Neue Zeit, Oct. 27, 1911. "Parlamentarismus und Demokratie," edition of 1911, p. 121. By 1892, Herzl had achieved great success as a dramatist and as a journalist; his plays had been performed on the stage of the leading theatre of Vienna and, to cap the climax, came an appointment to the staff of the Neue Freie Presse, one of the most distinguished papers on the continent.
