The Wheelock engine, which drives all the machinery in our section of the main building, has very properly been awarded a grand prize. It is all that can be desired in an engine, and has a singular simplicity of construction, with few working parts. It is the same which drove the machinery in the Agricultural Building at the Centennial.
Worthington, usually self-possessed, took a step forward and seized him by the arm. "What does this mean, Sutton?" he said. Mr. Sutton pulled himself together, and glared at Cynthia. "I think you are mistaken," said he, "the congressman of the district usually arranges these matters, and the appointment will be sent to Mr. Wheelock to-morrow."
"I regret extremely that my sense of justice demanded that I should make David Wheelock postmaster at Brampton, and I have made him so." It was now Cynthia's turn to be amazed. I reproved him; got into the canoe to keep him in order; was young and inexperienced; knew not much of Indians, nor much of mankind; whereby I endangered my life." In 1763, Rev. Mr. Wheelock made application to Gen.
By his will the elder Wheelock provided in such a way that his son succeeded him in the presidency of the college.
