French Ambassador opens himself largely, at Warsaw, by eloquent speech, by copious money, on the subject of Stanislaus; finds large audience, enthusiastic receptivity; and readers will now understand the following chronological phenomena of the Polish Election: "AUGUST 25th, 1733. This day the Polish Election begins.

In his letter to John Stearne, Bishop of Clogher, dated July, 1733, which is one of Swift's most characteristic epistles characteristic, because the embodiment of truthful candour he gives no equivocal expression of opinion on these two bills.

After the navigation act had been nominally in force for eighty-two years it was revived and supplemented by another measure known as the Importation Act. This statute, dating from the year 1733, was intended to be an actual device for controlling the commercial relations with the colonies.

In the war of the Spanish succession, the remnants of both brigades, consolidated into one, served under their favourite leader, the Marshal Duke of Berwick, through nearly all his campaigns in Belgium, Spain and Germany. The third Lord Clare, afterwards Field-Marshal Count Thomond, was by the Duke's side at Phillipsburg, in 1733, when he received his death-wound from the explosion of a mine.

Lovegold, its leading role, became a stock part. In February 1733, when the Miser was first acted, Fielding was five and twenty. His means at this time were, in all probability, exceedingly uncertain.

At the beginning of the season of 1733-34 the leading patentee was an amateur called Highmore, who had purchased Cibber's share. He had also purchased part of Booth's share before his death in May 1733. The only other shareholder of importance was Mrs. Wilks.
