Vermont sustains the McIntosh School, Miss Plimpton continues in charge, assisted by Misses Ayer, Kuhl, and Head. Massachusetts ladies are contributing to the Girl's Department of the boarding school at Tougaloo, Miss. Letters are written by the teachers in turn, thus reporting the different phases of work. The industrial School, at Thomasville, Ga. appeals especially to ladies of Connecticut.
These Normal Schools are located in WILMINGTON, N.C., CHARLESTON and GREENWOOD, S.C., ATLANTA, MACON, SAVANNAH, THOMASVILLE and MCINTOSH, GA., MOBILE, ATHENS and MARION, ALA., MEMPHIS, JONESBORO, GRAND VIEW and PLEASANT HILL, TENN., LEXINGTON and WILLIAMSBURG, KY., to which must be added the large Normal and Industrial School at Santee Agency, Nebraska, the Oahe Industrial School and the Fort Berthold Industrial School, both in Dakota, and all three for the Indians, making altogether 20.

The country was very swampy, the night rainy and dark, no stars were out to guide us, and we made such poor progress that when daylight came we were only eight miles from our starting place, and close to a road leading from Thomasville to Monticello. Finding a large turnip patch, we filled our pockets, and then hunted a place to lie concealed in during the day.
The marked success of the domestic training in our schools at Tougaloo, Miss., Talladega, Ala., Thomasville, Ga., Memphis, Tenn., and other points, shows the advantage gained in the twenty-five years' experience which the A.M.A. has had in its work for the Negroes.
Passing a part of the winter of 1886 in a hotel at Thomasville, Georgia, it chanced that among the hundred or more guests there were eight or ten of us who regularly received The Nation by post.

"He hangs out mostly at Thomasville, a town about fifteen miles from here," the sergeant explained, when at last the girls had realized that if they ever hoped to learn anything at all they must give the man a chance to speak. "And he makes most of his money by skinning the rookies."
