One liter of water containing 10 cubic centimeters of hydrochloric acid at 1.19 deg. dissolves 65 centigrammes of the salt at 146 deg.
When the precipitate is dried and heated on platinum-foil, it disperses as white vapour with slight detonation. Sulphate of lime in excess gives a white precipitate, soluble in nitric or hydrochloric acid, but insoluble in oxalic, tartaric, acetic, or any vegetable acid.

After a variable length of time, the contents of the stomach is reduced to a rather uniform and pulpy mass which is called chyme.
