About the sixth century A.D. the decadence of Buddhism and the invigoration of Brahmanism were both well advanced. The Mahabharata existed as a great collection of epic and religious poetry and the older Puranas were already composed.

The baby has been put in harmony with the laws of nature the invigoration of fresh air, sleep, stillness and the little one wakens and grows like a fresh, sweet rose. The mother, looking on, learns of the ways of God with men. Firmness is the true gentleness. There is a form of authority which must be as implacable as the divine decree.

The arterial circulation consists of those channels which convey the blood supposed pure blood away from the heart to the different parts of the body, loaded with the life-giving principle of sustenance, invigoration and heat, while the veins or venous circulation conveys to the heart and lungs the impure blood, loaded many times with disease-breeding germs.

In Geneva, Melville, like Knox, received much of his invigoration for the work that awaited him on his return to his native land. His residence there was made still more agreeable by the hospitality of a relative, Henry Scrymgeour, brother of his foster-mother.

If sailors might have coffee instead of rum, they would thankfully accept the substitute, for coffee is incomparably a better stimulant. The invigoration from rum is only momentary, and afterwards is perhaps rather pernicious; but the wholesome effect of coffee is felt for an hour. So they very excusably observe, 'Better grog than nothing!

"The Crown Prince of the German Empire is visiting Egypt and that is his yacht," said one of the officers. The morning was bright and clear. It was a delight to breathe the warm salt air and feel its invigoration. Overhead the sky was brilliantly blue and the sea reflected it in various hues. "Did you ever see such wonderful coloring on the waters of sea or river?" asked an enthusiastic beholder.

This rest and refreshment has for its consequence the restoration of the soul, which includes in it both the invigoration of the natural life by the outward sort of these blessings, and the quickening and restoration of the spiritual life by the inward feeding upon God and repose in Him.

There was a newness in the atmosphere that day, a bright invigoration, that set the blood tingling. The hot months were done with, languor was routed. Autumn spoke to industry, told of the sowing of another harvest, of the tawny shock, of the purple grape, of the red apple, and called upon muscle and laughter; breathed gaiety into men's hearts.

So much are men empowered by each other, that any careless, kindly chat which gives them the sense of cordial nearness gives also warmth and invigoration. Better than most ambitious conversation is the light, happy, bubbling talk which means at bottom simply this: "We are at home together; we believe in each other." Words are good, if they only festoon love and trust.

If, indeed, health is not to be recruited on these vast, flower-scented heights, nearly three thousand feet above the sea-level, swept clean by the pure air of half a dozen mountain chains, where may we hope to find invigoration? Even now non-fastidious tourists may be fairly comfortable.
