"You won't SEE Stonehenge every day, young man," said the custodian, a little piqued. "It's only an old beach," said the small boy, with extreme conviction. "It's rocks like the seaside. And there isunt no sea." The man at the turnstile mutely consulted the doctor. "I don't see that he can get into any harm here," the doctor advised, and the small boy was released from archaeology.

We can, then, accept Lepsius's theory as modified by Dr. Borchardt. Another interesting point has arisen in connection with the Great Pyramid. Homely girls can succeed there: for the fine shop a pretty face, an elegant figure, and a pleasing lady-like manner are greatly prized more than a knowledge of archaeology and the higher mathematics; and you possess all these essentials to start with.

Dr. C.G. Seligmann, in Reports of the Cambridge Anthropological Expedition to Torres Straits, v. 201 sq. A.L. Kroeber, "The Religion of the Indians of California," University of California Publications in American Archaeology and Ethnology, vol. iv. Roland B.
