Since the earlier presentations constitute the "apperceiving organs" which control the assimilation of new presentations, their character is all important. The effect of new presentations is to reinforce groupings previously formed.
Thence we call the presentations of the senses impressions, those of the conscience commands or dictates. The result is, the consciousness of responsibility; and the proof is afforded by the inward experience of the diversity between regret and remorse.
I am not one of those who believe votes are to be won by misrepresentations, skilful presentations of half truths, and plausible deductions from false premises. Good government cannot be found on the bargain-counter.
The falls, which chanced to be indeed no falls, but shower-swollen into rapids, are one of the most wonderful presentations of Nature's masonry that I have ever seen. It is not the water, but the rock, that amazes.
The Minister of the Interior presented the civil authorities of Paris; the Minister of War, the staff of the 17th military division; the Minister of Marine, several naval officers; and the staff of the Consular Guard was presented by Murat. As our Consular republicans were not exactly Spartans, the ceremony of the presentations was followed by grand dinner-parties.
And indeed, when we find ourselves among those full presentations of experience, or real objects, to which the body belongs since the body is only an objectified will, the shape which the will assumes in the material world it is difficult to let our bodies be guided, not by those presentations, but by a mere image of them, by cold, colourless ideas, which are related to experience as the shadow of Orcus to life; and yet this is the only way in which we can avoid doing things of which we may have to repent.

But, in truth, they should be considered as the presentations of a certain phase of life which nations in their onward course sooner or later assume.
Eugene Stock's History of the C.M.S. a book which, in spite of some startling inaccuracies, throws a welcome light on many obscure passages of our history. More reliable than either of these varying presentations of the bishop's policy and work is the small volume of "Annals of the Colonial Church.
He knew now that all such presentations were true and that all such presentations were false. Just as much and just as little was God the darkness and the brightness of the ripples under the bows of the distant boat, the black beauty of the leaves and twigs of those trees now acid-clear against the flushed and deepening sky.
These presentations occupied several days, during which his Majesty received in turn, and always with the same ceremonial, the presidents of the high courts of justice, the presidents of the councils-general of departments, the subprefects, the deputies of the colonies, the mayors of the thirty-six principal cities, the presidents of the cantons, the vice-presidents of the chambers of commerce, and the presidents of the consistories.
