As the medial moraines rest upon that part of the glacier which moves fastest, they of course advance much more rapidly than the lateral moraines. The terminal moraines consist of all the débris brought down by the glacier to its lower extremity.
The palm of the hand is crossed by a number of parallel lines, which recall a custom of using the palm lines in measuring ceremonial prayer sticks, as I have described in a memoir on the Snake dance.
