After the burning of that place, the name of the town was changed to Greensburg, and a new location selected on land donated by William Jack, who had become quite wealthy, and one of the Associate Judges of Westmoreland county. The only daughter of Judge William Jack, married John Cust, who fled from Ireland soon after the rebellion in 1798.
He must, however, have been on furlough part of the time as I believe most of the soldiers of that period were for he married in Connecticut during the war, had two children, and was a widower at the close. Soon after this he emigrated to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and settled near the town of Greensburg in that county. He took with him the younger of his two children, Peter Grant.

He was admitted to the bar in 1828, and settled in Pittsburg. From 1838 to 1841 he was member of the State Senate.

The officers charged with raising regiments must of necessity be near their homes to collect men, and for this reason are out of position; but at or near Greensburg and Lebanon, I desire to assemble as large a force of the Kentucky Volunteers as possible.
