The Britons of Strathclyde conformed to the English usages in 688; the first British bishop to conform in that district was present at a Council at Rome in 721, where he signs himself "Sedulius, a bishop of Britain, by race a Scot." Pictish Scotland, and also Iona, adopted the Catholic rites between 710 and 717.
