Wonderful flash-lights blazed from the tops of the tallest towers, surmounting the larger structures. Whenever the operator threw the search-light investigably over the yacht, we shut our eyes spontaneously at its dazzling brilliancy.
Alongside the bank and a little way back in the garden there is a row of soaring fountain-sprays of delicate feathery foliage quivering in the breeze, and mottled with flashes of light that shift and play through the mass like flash-lights through an opal a most beautiful tree, and a striking contrast to the cottonwood.
"There is!" came back in a tone that made Dick Prescott start and throb with alarm. "Who -where " asked Chief Simmons, excitedly. "Right here!" came the voice. "Hold your lights on me!" Two flash-lights at once centered their rays on the speaker, and Dave Darrin bounded forward into the light. "So you two have been working this thing as side partners, have you?" asked Chief Simmons harshly.
