She came riding on a wolf and gave the ship such a push that fire flashed from the rollers and all the earth shook.
And, giving the vessel a single push, she sent it sliding with speed into the deep waters of the bay. Then she gave the word to her grisly steed, and she flew onwards and away, no one knew whither. The "Ringhorn" floated nobly upon the water, a worthy bier for the body which it bore.
Great pine trees were felled and piled upon the deck of Ringhorn, Balder's ship; tapestry hangings, garlands of flowers and ornaments of gold and silver were heaped upon the pyre. And finally, in sad procession, came the gods, bearing Balder's body, which they placed upon the flowers.
