Osgood began his work in Massachusetts, under the auspices of the Massachusetts Temperance Alliance, organizing about forty clubs, one of which, in Haverill, numbered over three thousand members. In New Hampshire and Vermont, many clubs were organized by Mr. Osgood and some of his converts. Another effective worker in the field is Dr. Henry A. Reynolds, of Bangor, Maine, where he was born in 1839.
