See Wolf, Gesch. d. Monat. In a letter to Von Zach of June 24, 1802, he speaks of Pallas as "almost incredibly small," and makes it only seventy English miles in diameter. Monat. Astr., p. 359. Prof. Challis's Report, quoted in Obituary Notice, Month. Trans., vol. i., p. 246. See H. T. Vivian, Engl.

Many travellers have spoken of the extraordinary tendency to imitation among the Fuegians; and, according to Monat, the Andaman islanders are not less disposed to mimicry and imitation. Mitchell states that the Australians possess the same power. This fact also applies to the languages of extremely rude and savage peoples.

Ah, my friend, it is your own particular favourite, the flower, by whatever name you call it, that you plucked long ago when you were walking in the forest with your sweetheart, "Im wunderschonen Monat Mai Als alle Knospen sprangen."

"The Duet" is a delicious marriage of the song of a girl and the accompanying rapture of a bird. A captivating little florid figure in the accompaniment of a setting of "Im wunderschönen Monat Mai" gives the song worth. "On the Water" is profound with sombreness and big simplicity. "The Boat of My Lover" is quaintly delightful.
