Fancy a table-rock with twenty or thirty houses on it. At Chokinumu, a village 1600 feet above the sea, S.E. from Marivaenumu seven miles, we alarmed the people so that they rushed away, leaving us the village. Shortly a man came back, pretending to be very unconcerned, chewing betel- nut; we soon were friends, and he called out to the others, and they returned.
A number of people from Marivaenumu were here wallaby-hunting, and on returning were met; three women and two men were killed. 26th. Returned to Port Moresby to-day, and found all well, and good news from all the stations. The services have gone on here in Rua's absence with great success.
