The terrible tale which shocked the civilised world was communicated to the Daily News by its Constantinople correspondent, Mr. Edwin Pears. Washbourne, who is by birth an American, has been for many years the best authority on the question of the treatment of the Christians of the Ottoman Empire by the Sultan.
