The Cursitors' Office was built by Bacon, Lord Keeper of the Great Seal, and adjoined the site of a palace of the Bishop of Chichester; and this adjoined the Domus Conversorum, or House of Converts, wherein the rolls of Chancery were kept, now replaced by the magnificent building of the new Record Office.
Cf. a very similar passage in The Lady of Pleasure, v. 1. The cant language of thieves. In Harman's Caveat for Cursitors, or some of Dekker's tracts, "Pedlars' French" may be found in abundance. He first published his book in 1567 as A Caveat or Warning for Common Cursitors, vulgarly called Vagabonds "A Caveat or Warening for common cursetors, Vulgarely called Vagabones, set forth by Thomas Harman, Esquiere, for the utilite and proffyt of his naturall Cuntrey" and he dedicated it to Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury.
