Today was very seasonably sent a whole piece of calico and a piece of print. Aug. 16. All our money is now again gone. Today 1l. 3s. was needed, but only 3s. was in hand. One of the labourers was able to add a sovereign, and thus we were helped. Aug. 17. Saturday. 5l. was needed today, but only 7s. 6d. had come in. The remaining 2l. l2s. 6d. one of the labourers gave.

Almost immediately afterwards came in 1l. l2s. 2d., sufficient to supply the need of today. Sept. 30. Today there is nothing in hand. It is now a quarter past eleven, but nothing yet has come in. Nevertheless the Lord will surely help us this day also! About five minutes after I had written the above, I was informed by a note from brother B., that 2l. 10s. 6d. had come in in small donations.

A trunk of linen first attracts them, and they set down its contents, including "1 pair of sheets, 3 napkins, 6 yards of broad tiffany," at 16s. Next is a heavier entry to wit, "240 pieces of tymber, 200 loades of firewood, 4 carts, 1 wain, 2 old coaches, 1 mare colt, 3 sows, 1 boar, 2 ewes, 3 parcels of boards," valued in the aggregate at 156l. l2s.

John Baptist, paid to twenty-two mowers, each receiving 1-1/2d. per day for four days, 11s. Wednesday following paid to twenty-three mowers, each receiving 6d. per day for their wages of two days, 1l. 3s. Paid to fourscore and sixteen spreaders of hay for one day's wages, whereof fourscore received each per day 1-1/2d, and each of the others 2d., l2s. 8d.
