Andrea delle Fratte, which belonged to the Scottish Catholics before the Reformation, and is now frequented by our Catholic countrymen during Lent, when sermons are preached to them in English. It is the parish church of the Piazza di Spagna, and the so-called English quarter.
Caesar took the tram in the Piazza Venezia, and got out after crossing the Tiber, near the Via delle Fratte. He soon found the convent; it had a yellow portal with a Latin inscription which sang the gymnastic glories of Saint Pascual Bailon. Above the inscription there was a picture, in which a monk, no doubt Bailon, was dancing among the clouds.
A companion piece is the "Will-o'-the-wisp." About this time the lovely sixteen-year-old daughter of Madam Falconnet died at Rome, and for her monument in the Catholic church of San Andrea del Fratte, Miss Hosmer produced an exquisite figure resting upon a sarcophagus.
