Not far-off another river, the Faro, rushed forth, not much inferior to the principal river, descending from the steep sides of the Alantika. Slaves were at that time the principal export from Bornou. Soon after this Dr Overweg arrived, looking greatly fatigued and much worse than when the doctor parted from him four months before. On the 29th of May, 1851, Dr Barth and Dr Overweg set out on a journey to Adamawa, in the south.
