He died in 1625, leaving a son Martin, also his pupil, who established himself at Antwerp and later at Frankfort. Martin was an historical and landscape painter, although he painted some good portraits in the manner of his father. He is thought to have died about 1636. Philip Vinckboons, the elder, was born about 1550, became an associate of the Gild of Painters in 1580, and died 1631.
