Brother Kohlmeister made drawings of the situation. From our first arrival we had improved every opportunity of making the Esquimaux acquainted with the chief aim of our visit to this country, and addressed them both singly and in companies.
As they coasted along, they met several Christian Esquimaux, who were scattered at different summer provision places. The congregation amounted to about fifty, including the boat's company. Brother Kohlmeister addressed them, and expressed his hope that they were all walking worthy of their Christian profession presenting a good example to their heathen neighbours.
Brother Kohlmeister once more explained to them our intention in coming thus far to visit them.
This being the day before our departure, we erected, on two opposite hills, at the entrance of the bay, high marks of stones, and on the declivity of a hill to the right, a board, into which we had cut an inscription, thus Benjamin Kohlmeister, George Kmoch, Aug. 7, 1811.
